The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Engineer Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi headed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation participating in Bali Clean Energy Conference held here today. In a speech before the conference, Engineer Al-Naimi spoke about the importance of energy in the economic and social growth, that all peoples of the world have the right to have reliable stable energy sources, that the fossil fuel will continue to play its important role in the consumed energy mix for several coming decades; that the fossil fuel is useful, but the damage caused by its emissions that can be addressed through technology, not by leaving it underground. He went on saying "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is working individually or in cooperation with other countries on researches of technology for reducing emissions and their development by carbon capture and sequestration for example, as well as the Kingdom is working to reduce the harmful emissions through laws and regulations that restrict and regulate the process of energy consumption in the Kingdom." Engineer Al-Naimi noted that the Kingdom is active through universities and research centers in the development of renewable energy. Concluding his speech, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources said, "The Kingdom realizes the importance of renewable energy in the energy mix in the future, as well as shifting to clean energy and dealing with emissions by the use of fossil fuel energy, and we realize that we are in need of renewable energy for the progress of mankind and its future."
