Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel bin Zaid Al-toraifi, who is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), inaugurated at King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh this evening the new electronic site and logo of the Saudi Press Agency. Addressing the gathering, Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein, the President of the Saudi Press Agency, extended thanks to and appreciation of Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel bin Zaid Al-toraifi for honoring SPA by inaugurating its new website and logo, welcoming the elite attendees whose presence marks a new chapter of the agency's achievements in the field of media and communication as part of its endeavor to stay vigilant in practicing its job amid media tools, means and devices accelerating changes and developments. Al-Hussein cast light on the significance of SPA's new logo, which embodies the national culture and heritage, reflects a one-man team spirit and explains the diversity of its on-duty devices. He said the new electronic site would turn to be a convenient and effective window for news dealing as its design matches with the diversified smart devices and telephones in addition to its flexible design and distributed colors which cope with SPA's new identity. Moreover, the agency's website contains numerous browsers and shows easy access for its multi-level visitors. Shedding light on the classifications of the website, Al-Hussein said they were chosen to provide the user with quick reach to the required information in a record time. The photos were coordinated according to internationally-recognized standards, he said, drawing the attention that the website contains all SPA's services in word and photo in addition to the mail bulletin, ads department, events coverage department, subscription system, services, products and sources management system and reports and surveys systems e.t.c. Al-Hussein explained that SPA's new website is broadcasting its news in six languages: the Arabic, English, French, in addition to the Persian, Russian and Chinese, the last three were introduced upon instructions of His Excellency the Minister of Culture and Information. He went on to say that SPA's job in case of important national events is to transmit its coverage in a suitable language to the event and its location through a special icon, citing the coverage of the 4rth Arab and Latin American summit held in Riyadh and had its news broadcast in Spanish and the G20 summit in the city of Antalya, Turkey, having used the Turkish language. He added that the website was directly associated with the social media sites to facilitate the news wide-spread transmission and photo release, vowing that SPA would continue to update its developing and modernizing process in a way that meets the aspiration of the prudent leadership in delivering the message of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the entire world, thanks to Allah Almighty and the continuous support of the Minister of Culture and Information. Then, the Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel bin Zaid Altoraifi inaugurated SPA's new website and logo and watched, together with the attendees, two presentations on the website and SPA's new headquarters building. In the end, the Minister honored Saud Al-Harbi and Ali Al-Awadh, two colleague photographers with SPA, for having been awarded a local and Arab prizes in photographing respectively. Dr. Altoraifi also gave away two memorial shields to each of Dr. Badran bin Abdulrahman Al-Omer, Rector of King Saud University, received on his behalf by Dr. Yousef bin Abdou Assiri, King Saud University Undersecretary for Development and Quality and Clinical Pharmacy professor; and Dr. Fowzan bin Abdulrahman Al-Fowzan, Acting Rector of Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University in recognition of the two universities' effective cooperation with SPA in different fields. In addition to this, several certificates and citations were offered to academicians who have extended fruitful efforts to SPA on a number of previous national events. Then a photo-session to mark the event was held. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Prince Naif bin Thinayan bin Mohammed; Dr. Azzam bin Mohammed Al-Dakheel, Consultant at the Royal Court; Dhia Al-Deen Saeed Bamakhrama, Dean of Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Kingdom, who is also the ambassador of Djibouti to the Kingdom; and senior officials of the ministry, editors-in-chief of paper and electronic newspapers and a number of reporters and correspondents of audio-visual and readable media.
