Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's speech at UN Security Council
Published in Alriyadh on 01 - 10 - 2015

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed its deep concern about the military operations carried out by Russian forces in Hama and Homs in Syria on Wednesday, the places where ISIS does not exist, which resulted in a number of innocent victims, demanding their immediate cessation and ensuring their non-recurrence.
This came in the Kingdom's speech at the United Nations Security Council on the item entitled 'Maintaining international peace and security: the settlement of the conflict in the Middle East and North Africa and combating the threat of terrorism in the region,' which was delivered yesterday evening at United Nations headquarters by the Kingdom's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Moallemi.
The Kingdom stressed that Israel's continuing occupation of the Palestinian land, its repeated aggressions on Al-Haram Al-Sharif and Al-Aqsa Holy Mosque, and the violence perpetrated by terrorist settlers, are among the most important causes of many armed conflicts in the region.
It confirmed that coming out against the national constitutional legitimacy in Yemen and obeying the Iranian interventions have led Al-Houthi group and its allies to make a coup against the authority and revoke all covenants reached by Yemenis, which led the Kingdom and its sisterly members of the Arab coalition to respond to the call of the people of Yemen represented by its legitimate President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
On the stampede in Mina, Ambassador Al-Mo'allemi said that it is deplorable Iran's politicization of the tragic incident suffered by pilgrims in Makkah, thus it does not respect the sanctity of the religious rites and the lives of the victims.
He said that the Kingdom has always committed with the care and comfort for pilgrims and ensuring their security, and has foiled many Iranian attempts of sabotage in many years; adding that as we condole the families of the victims of the pilgrims, the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is conducting appropriate investigations and will hold accountable anyone negligent if exists; and we do not and will not allow anyone of fishing in troubled waters and exploiting this humanitarian event.
