Minister of Health Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Faleh, stressed that the ministry did not register any epidemic case among the pilgrims since they started coming to the Kingdom. In a speech at a press conference held Thursday in Makkah, the Minister of Health appreciated the decisions issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, related to supporting the families of martyrs and the injured of the accident of the crane fall at the Grand Mosque in Makkah. He described these decisions as wise and humanitarian as they confirm the keenness of the wise leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, on the comfort and care of pilgrims, pointing out to the visit paid by King Salman, the Crown Prince and the Deputy Crown Prince to the injured of the accident to get reassured of their conditions and make sure that they have received all health care. The Minister of Health announced the completed readiness of all hospitals and health facilities of the Ministry of Health in Makkah, the holy sites and Madinah to serve pilgrims. He confirmed the keenness of the ministry to strictly implement all health requirements at all Saudi air, land and sea inlets to prevent the entry of any infectious disease and protect the pilgrims from getting any infectious disease. He explained that the ministry of health provide all preventive and curative services to pilgrims in health centers and advanced hospitals including major surgical operations. Regarding the current situation of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus and preparations of the Ministry to contain and prevent the transmission of any infection among pilgrims, the Health Minister said that there was an increase in the registered cases of coronavirus at the beginning of August because of the outbreak that occurred in Riyadh King Abdulaziz Medical City Hospital in the National Guard. He said that 141 cases of infection of coronavirus were recorded in August, mostly have related with this outbreak and confined in the city of Riyadh, but in the past few weeks, there was a steady decline in the number of cases associated with the outbreak With regard to the situation in Madinah, the Health Minister said that the number of cases recorded were seven. Al-Faleh said secondary cases where diseases could break out, were successfully prevented. Hospitals in Makkah, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah and sacred places were equipped with whatever necessary to deal with suspect humans. In response to a question, Eng. Al-Fateh said there are eight hospitals at Mina and Arafat, and more than 120 dispensaries equipped with the pertinent tools and 180 ambulances.
