Turkey's military deployed F-16 fighter jets to shoot down a Syrian government aircraft which had twice violated Turkish airspace near the border, a Turkish military official is quoted by the daily Hurriyet as saying. According to dpa, the report says two missiles were fired at the Syrian plane and there was visual confirmation it was hit and crashed.
