U.S. President Barack Obama said that he was inviting the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to Camp David this spring to discuss improving security cooperation. President Obama told reporters in the White House Rose Garden on Thursday, 'Today, I spoke with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to reaffirm our commitment to the security of our partners in the Gulf, adding, 'And I am inviting the leaders of the six countries who make up the Gulf Cooperation Council to meet me at Camp David this spring to discuss how we can further strengthen our security cooperation while resolving the multiple conflicts that have caused so much hardship and instability throughout the Middle East.' President Obama said that he also spoke with British Prime Minister David Cameron, French President Francois Hollande, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel 'to reaffirm that we stand shoulder-to-shoulder in this effort.' The US President pointed out that the framework agreement between the six world powers and Iran curbs Tehran's nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.
