The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud patronized here this evening the giving away ceremony of the 37th round of King Faisal International Prize. Upon arrival at the venue, he was received by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region, who is also the Director General of King Faisal Charity Foundation and Chairman of the prize's commission; Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier; Prince Turki Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies; Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region; Prince Abdulrahman Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal; Prince Bandar bin Saud bin Khalid, Deputy Director General of King Faisal Charity Foundation; and Dr. Abdullah Al-Saleh Al-Othaimeen, the prize's Secretary General. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques was accompanied by Prince Bandar bin Salman bin Abdulaziz; and Prince Faisal bin Ahmed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. Then the Royal anthem was played before the prize's laureates shock hands with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. Then a photo-session was held to mark the event. The ceremony was incepted by recitation of verses from the holy Quran. Addressing the gathering, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal called for hard work to restore true Islam from its kidnappers. 'In the world of today, there is no room for the weakened', he said, adding that human rights issue witnesses double standard by its claimers. He also called for transferring the desert to a source of strength and the youths to a useful machine in the service of the nation. He paid tribute to Allah Almighty to have granted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia a prudent leadership, a dedicated government and highly-ambitious people. Dr. Zaker Abdulkareem Naik, Director of the Islamic Research Foundation in India, won the prize for the Service of Islam; the prize in the field of Islamic studies went to Dr. Eng. Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Kaaki, Consultant at Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah Development Authority; Professor Jeffrey Evan Gordon, Professor at Dr. Robert Glezers Chair and Director of Genes and Bio-systems science center at the University of Washington, St Luis, U.S.A. was awarded the prize in the field of medicine; In the field of Chemistry, the prize was given to Professor Michael Gratzel, Director of Physical Chemistry Institute lab, an affiliate of the Federal Swiss Institute for Technology; Professor Omar Muanes Yaghi, at the Physical-sciences chair at the University of California, also won the prize in the field of science. The prize's laureates were given chance to thank the organizers and each highlight his work that nominated him to win the award. Then the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques graced the dinner party held on the occasion. The event was attended by Prince Faisal bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Kabeer; Prince Khalid bin Fahd bin Khalid; Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Faisal; Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Abdulrahman; Prince Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz; Prince Turki bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz; Prince Badr bin Fahd bin Saad; Prince Khalid bin Saad bin Fahd and other princes, Saad Al-Hariri, Lebanon's former Premier, ministers and senior civil and military officials as well as the prize's invitees from abroad.
