Ayoon wa Azan (The Common Denominator is Crime)
Published in AL HAYAT on 23 - 12 - 2012

There are many lists about the most powerful lobbying groups in the USA and they all differ from one another. However, I still haven't read about any group that does not list the Israeli lobby or the American-Israeli Public Affairs Committee within the first ten lobbying groups.
If I was to come up with a list, based on my knowledge of the subject matter since I lived in the US and I follow up on these issues on a daily matter, I would place the Israeli lobby at the top of the list, followed by the gun lobby.
What is the common denominator between these two lobbies? Crime. Israeli is killing babies and entire families, while the possession of guns is killing American children, like the Newtown tragedy that took place last week where 20 children between the ages of six to eight were killed, in addition to six adults. The gun lobby stated that it was “shocked and saddened" by the tragedy. However, this will not bring the victims back to life.
Israel has killed 1,500 Palestinian children and minors less than fifteen years old since September 29, 2000. Weapons are killing thousands of American every year whereby I read that a million Americans have been killed with firearms since the assassination of President Kennedy in 1962.
Let us consider the old and new figures. Concerning the details of the latest Israeli attack against the Gaza territory, eight members of the Al-Dalou family were killed together including five children. Prior to that, during the 2009 attack, a few hundreds were killed. In the summer of 2006, during the attack against Lebanon, more than a thousand dead victims fell. There was also the Libyan civilian airplane in 1973; and the victims of 1967, 1973, and 1982. Israel's record represents a history of crime from Deir Yassin to Kobayya to Bahr al-Bakar where the next crime will certainly take place.
The Israeli lobby protects its crimes including the attack against the Liberty Ship in 1996 when 34 sailors were killed. The Israeli crimes also include stealing nuclear substances and spying on the US Administration services, stealing information and transferring it to Israel, in addition to stealing industrial and commercial secrets, thus allowing Israel to improve its production and to compete with the American industrialists all over the world without spending a dime on research and development.
The Israeli lobby bought the Congress and put it in its pocket to the extent that it aborted the appointment of Suzan Rice to the post of secretary of state. This lobby is now opposing the appointment of John Kerry to this post. Thus, we are hearing lies on John Kerry being Syria's man in Washington. This reminds us of the lie concerning the Swift Boat and how Kerry abandoned his mates even though he is a decorated American hero who obtained the Silver Star and the Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. Meanwhile, George W. Bush did not fight in Vietnam since, thanks to his family's mediations, he was able to spend the war as part of the National Guards in Texas.
The Israeli lobby is now organizing a campaign against the former Senator, Chuck Hagel, whose name has been suggested for the post of Defense Minister. The Likud websites are openly saying that the reason for this campaign is that Kerry and Hagel are not friends of Israel. This is an infinite insolence since the American official has to be a server to Israel rather than to the United States. When asked about his record in voting for issues that matter to Israel, Hagel once said: “Let me clarify this for you in case you had any doubts: I am a senator who represents the United States rather than Israel. I am an American senator and I support Israel. However, my first and foremost concern is that I have made a pledge for the US constitution rather than for an Israeli president or party."
The gun lobby is no better than the Israeli lobby. Some even believe that the former lobby is more powerful than the AIPAC. Some also believe that it is more powerful than the “lobbies" of the drug companies and major weapons manufacturing companies. But this is not true. The Israeli lobby is the most powerful followed by the gun lobby. They have a common mode of operation: money. The gun lobby includes four million members who encourage donations to the members of two Congress councils who support gun possession.
All the talk about restricting gun possession, the tears of Barack Obama, and the blood of the children will change nothing. The Israeli lobby and the gun lobby are more powerful that the president and his Administration.
The United States represents five percent of the world's population and 50 percent of the individual firearms possession with 300 million guns and 80 Americans killed on a daily basis with firearms. Meanwhile, Israel kills every Palestinian it can get. All this is happening in a country that is a pioneer in freedoms and Human Rights because the so-called lobbies are in fact part of an organized crime gang.
