It is very natural for a country having Egypt's size, history and influence to be the object of foreign conspiracies and schemes targeting its stability and aiming at affecting its decision or at shifting its goals in specific directions, in order to achieve the interests of individuals, sides or other countries. However, it is unnatural for this conspiracies "tale" to turn into a justification for the mistakes, the bad judgment or the failure of the policies and decisions during the transitory phase. It is natural for schemes to be weaved to cause the deterioration of the security situation and to prompt disputes among the people, between the people and the army or the police and between the revolutionaries and the authority. Indeed, there are countries that cannot grow stronger if Egypt does not grow weaker, some that wish to impact the Egyptian decision in the post-revolution phase, others that perceive the strength of the Egyptian decision as being a weakness of their own, want a powerful Egypt but under their tutelage, or do not wish to see Egypt on the map to begin with, whether strong or weak. Interests govern the inclinations and policies of the states, while historical hostility governs the present and future relations. And it is only natural in a country where analphabetism reaches around 30% and poverty exceeds 40% to find some failing to adopt the wise path, to become aware of society's higher interests or appreciate the size of the foreign conspiracies and domestic schemes. However, what is unnatural is for the talk about these "conspiracies" and "schemes" to emerge whenever a policy fails, an official commits a mistake or a decision is obstructed, without announcing any details or documented information about this conspiracy or scheme. In the end, people stopped to believe, the mistakes increased, failure spread and society became on the brink of collapse. Until now, there is not one scenario over which all the sides have agreed in regard to what happened last Wednesday night and led to clashes between the police and the demonstrators in front of Balloon Theater, before moving to the headquarters of the Interior Ministry and then the surroundings of Tahrir Square. As for those who were taken aback by what happened, by the exchanged accusations and by the race to ride the revolution wave - while speaking in its name and claiming to defend it - they must recall that until now, the people have not yet been informed about what happened on "bloody Wednesday," dubbed in the media as the "Battle of the Camels," when the "thugs" attacked the crowds on Tahrir Square on February 2. True, the prosecution is still investigating the case (since then), but the information about the "massacre" remained scarce and did not exceed the talk about the fact that some NDP officials (in power at the time) summoned the "thugs" and ordered them to vacate Tahrir Square by all means necessary and regardless of the losses! And between the Balloon Theater incident and the Battle of the Camels, numerous official statements were issued in regard to the "conspiracies" being weaved against Egypt, to target the revolution, harm the revolutionaries, generate clashes between the army and the people and prevent the reinstatement of security in the country. However, not one official and not one side revealed the details of even one plan or conspiracy. And whether this is related to a church incident, to a group of people blocking the road in protest against the appointment of a governor or the delay affecting the trying in court of the symbols of the former regime, or even the descent by the crowds onto the football field, warnings against "conspiracies" and "schemes" are immediately launched. Then days go by and the people do not learn anything about the conspiracy or the scheme, although Prime Minister Dr. Issam Sharaf cautioned about them several times, and the military council issued more than one statement to ask the people to be alert to avert them. The Egyptians all remember a two-word expression, i.e. "No Touching," which was used by the symbols and ministers of the former regime whenever they planned on raising the prices of goods or services, to refer to the fact that they will not affect the simple citizens, their rights and lives, and will only target the rich and those with high incomes. The simple citizens would then be surprised to see that they are the only ones targeted, and consequently started to use the expression to mock the rule and its officials. No statement in which an official made the "No Touching" pledge was trusted, as the citizens became aware of the fact that they will undoubtedly be affected. It is in that same way that the Egyptian citizens have started to deal with the talk about "conspiracies" and "schemes" which they hear about but never see. They even believe that their promotion falls in the context of a plan targeting them and a conspiracy weaved against them! In short, the people in Egypt now want the exposure of the schemes.
