It took terrorist Benjamin Netanyahu 59 years before uttering a single word of truth. In Washington, he claimed that Arabs and Israel agreed on describing Iran as a common threat. Interestingly though, Arabs do not unanimously perceive Iran as a threat. Over the years, they have agreed on one thing: disagreeing on every single matter. As such, some Arab countries label Iran a threat, unlike others that forged an alliance with the Islamic Republic, thus fomenting the fears of the former group of Arab countries. I have heard senior Arab officials and average citizens refer to Iran as a threat, with Israel, that remote country, considered to pose no threat whatsoever. No wonder in this case that Barack Obama refers to “two states” and Israel's prime minister to “Iran.” As a matter of fact, Netanyahu should be thanked for his honesty. During the Israeli electoral campaign, he rejected the establishment of an independent Palestinian state – and he still does. He also rejected withdrawal from the Golan Heights, though he calls for negotiations with the Syrians --- God knows over what! He pursues the Nazi siege of Gaza and speaks of two “Hamas,” overlooking the fact that Israel is a pure “Nazi” state and alleging that Iran poses an existential threat to his country. He is even so impudent to incite the United States, which is not under threat, to destroy the Iranian nuclear program by force in case negotiations do not pay off. This Israeli demand comes at a time when Israel possesses a nuclear arsenal and rockets capable of carrying its atomic bombs to any corner of the Arab World, to Iran and even further. As for Iran, it is but a future threat, which will never threaten the United States if ever it materializes. I give credit to his folks and express my thanks to all cowardly Arab states. If they do not fear Israel, they fear Iran or both Israel and Iran. Governments and their people communicate fear to each other. I also thank President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad who makes fiery statements and takes hawkish stances, thus frightening his neighbors and giving Israel ammunition it can use against him. As a result, the United States and half the countries around the globe are fighting what does not exist in Iran, turning a blind eye to something that definitely exists in Israel. Such a wise policy indeed! Then, there are the Palestinian leaders who must be thanked first and foremost. Divided as they are, they have engaged in an intestine battle. Yet, the Palestinians urge the Arabs, Muslims, and the entire world to support them, while they fail to support their own cause. Through its conduct, the Palestinian leadership is facilitating Israel's task to the extent that Netanyahu, the enemy of peace and humanity, now claims to seek peace and champions immediate unconditional negotiations, but unfortunately finds no Palestinian partner. I know that my words are of no avail, but my job requires me to express my view. The settlements are not the issue at stake. The building or expansion of settlements must be stopped and the pretext of natural growth must be rejected. But at the same time the focus must be on the occupation, liberation, and the establishment of the independent state. Israel has made out of the settlements an issue to deflect attention from the state. If settlement activity stops tomorrow (definitely for a limited period of time) some Arabs will rise to their feet and say, “We have won.” Israel has no incentives whatsoever. There are covert Zionists among Western politicians who want to give Israel something in return for nothing. What is needed is the rejection of temptations and pressure. No exchange of diplomatic relations in any form, no use of Arab airspace, and no trade or exchanges even on a small scale. I am writing in my capacity as an Arab citizen like millions of people, but the only difference is that I have a column in which I can express most of my ideas. Since Netanyahu wants the Palestinians, as a pre-condition to embarking on negotiations over self-rule, not the state, to recognize the Jewishness of Israel, I say that I do not recognize Israel as a state, be it Jewish or Nazi or something else, before the establishment of a Palestinian state. I call on the readers, who are citizens like me, to declare whether they agree or disagree with me. The initially bad situation will certainly worsen with Netanyahu and his gang of radicals and terrorists. The only thing he will achieve is mutual death as long as a citizen like me does not recognize Israel before the establishment of a Palestinian state, and as long as other citizens will not recognize it even if the hoped-for state is established. http://www.j-khazen.blogspot.com/
