Ahmadinejad's “Paradise” and Obama's Depression
Published in AL HAYAT on 23 - 09 - 2010

Between the “Millennium Development Goals” summit and the bilateral, tripartite and quartet summits we are witnessing in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, it does not seem that UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon will be able to get the leading role, despite his dreams of better health for the women and children of the world and for which four billion dollars were collected.
Certainly, the problem does not reside in the disregarding of the health of the men managing “small” wars and others across the borders, their youth who are “engaged in a Jihad” in Somalia by killing women and children, or some of their elderly in the West among those who lie in wait for the lapses of Muslims to score points against a mosque, a Niqab or a Hijab… One might say it is a cosmic war to protect what the fundamentalists in Europe and America perceive as being a Western leniency, from which those putting forward the “threat of the Islamists” have had enough.
Still, the problem does not lie in all that, nor does it lie in the motives behind the destruction of everything that was achieved in terms of rapprochement between the East and the West, the rich North and the poor South owing to sacrifices that were offered throughout decades. The problem is that Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad used his presence in New York between the “United” nations and surprised all the leaders by anticipating the speech of American President Barack Obama before the General Assembly. He thus gave the impression he may be the only one showing “modesty” at the level of his ambitions, relinquishing the burden of the Iranian nuclear file and struggling with the pain caused by the international sanctions because his primary concern is the afflictions of humanity and “settling the problem of the world.”
It was as simple as that because the only problem keeping the Iranian president awake at night is the preparation for an alternative for a capitalism which he believes is dying, while the leaders of the world are unaware of the facts, or exercise intimidation. In the meantime, the opposition in Iran is reassured and basking in the paradise of the “Revolutionary Guard” and Wilayat e-Faqih.
However, many among those leaders did not forget that Ahmadinejad is the only president who ever expressed a wish to wipe Israel off the map, but his “tolerance” may have been the reason why - in the speech he delivered at the “Millennium Development Goals” summit - he recalled that “the Zionist regime is a very small entity” and it would be fine to move to something more urgent like handling the affairs and problems of the world!
As for Obama, he will not ask him who is strengthening Al-Qaeda and the Taliban, who is fueling sectarianism in the Arab world, and who is trying to topple an American project with “secret” goals, in order to manage the conflict for hegemony over the region under the pretext of filling Arab vacuum and compensating for the Arab inability to stop the plight of the Palestinians with the Israeli oppression.
Moreover, Obama will not ask the Iranian president in public about the service offered by Tehran to facilitate a safe American pullout from Iraq firstly and Afghanistan secondly, about what Hamas could offer in return for its demands to see Washington opening a window of dialogue with it… or about the price for Ahmadinejad's recanting of the wish to wipe out Israel.
In reality, the White House is still proceeding with the countdown. In two years, one year or maybe even six months, Iran will have acquired the nuclear bomb. Nonetheless, the American hand is still extended to Tehran, which will play a “facilitating” role for the pullout strategy from Iraq. This will be considered a victory by both Obama and Ahmadinejad. As for the fate of the bomb, it will only concern Israel and its ability to coexist with nuclear Iran, but also the Arabs who are for the most part worried about Islamic Iran's ambitions and dreams. They are seeking ways to block the doors and windows before it attempts to get an expeditious recognition of its tutelage over the Arab Shiites and the protection of their interests.
Obama will neither be able to enumerate all his accomplishments since he entered the White House nor go over what was achieved from his promises to win the hearts of the Muslims in front of the National Assembly. This is due to the fact that he is subjected to the blackmail of the American extremist right wing and is being exploited by the Jewish Lobby, which found its golden opportunity in the renewed “clash of religions.” This is Islamophobia in its purest forms, raging in America and Europe under the pretext of the failure to integrate the Muslims in Christian communities, at a time when many Arabs are not completely oblivious as to the ways the nightmare of the Takfiri organizations is revived in concomitance with the “sudden” awakening of the sectarian winds threatening the coexistence pacts in many entities.
Even the Jewish state, whose side Obama is taking, will not receive promises regarding its birth during his speech, as he is aware that his new accomplishment by reconnecting Palestinian-Israeli negotiations will not last long.
He will neither make promises regarding a safer world at a time when the surge of sectarianism and denominationalism is besieging everyone, nor regarding a steadfast economy under the burden of an unemployment which is also used in the West as a knife to slaughter the dialogue of civilizations…
It is a bleak ending for the first decade of the millennium, since now that the world has turned into a cosmic village, ambitions in several areas has become a pile of planets and cosmic bodies with which states and entities can be fragmented.
