The Saudi Royal Flight took off from Casablanca in Morocco to Cairo, and from there to the Umayyad capital (Damascus). Then it made a short trip that was described as “historical” to the Switzerland of the East (Beirut), during which the Servant of the Two Holy Shrines was accompanied by Syrian President Bashar al-Asad, before it headed to Amman. On Thursday, the Servant of the Two Holy Shrines King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz and the official delegation accompanying him had breakfast in Damascus, lunch in Beirut, and dinner in Amman. This day was inspired by the tense Arab issues that concern the Servant of the Two Holy Shrines, so that these issues would be “brotherly” and calmly discussed away from any tensions, in order to expel pressure from the region. Perhaps the Beirut station was the most important one, at least because three Arab leaders met there to calm down the spirits and encourage the Lebanese to abandon divisions and avoid sectarianism and confessionalism. The results of the tripartite summit raise a joint vision with regard to internal Lebanese issues and other regional ones, particularly pertaining to the Arab region. The statement highlighted the need for solidarity and unity in the face of the challenges engulfing the Arab region, at the forefront of which is the Israeli obstinacy and its tyrannical and criminal practices against the Palestinian people, as well as to face the schemes and conspiracies weaved for the Arab region in order to keep it busy with sectarian and confessional strife. In fact, the Arab torment is not restricted to the political, economic, security, and social issues and crises in the Middle East and North Africa. However, it goes beyond that to the need to find a cure to treat the chronic diseases that exist in the inter-Arab relations, and which have hindered many Arab efforts aimed at formulating a unified position and vision vis-à-vis the region's issues and crises. This is exactly what the Servant of the Two Holy Shrines requested from the Arab leaders during the Kuwait Economic Summit when he said: “We, the leaders of the Arab nation, are all responsible for the flimsiness that plagued the unity of our position, and for the weakness that threatened our solidarity. I hereby say this without excluding anyone of us. Let bygone be bygone, and today, I call on you and myself to overcome our wounds and ascend above our differences, and to disappoint our enemies and espouse a honorable position, for which history would remember us and which our nation would pride itself with.” Beyond any doubt, the internal crises and the foreign challenges are an influential factor that undermines the joint Arab action. This requires “forthright” dealing with the “troubled” Arab issues by adopting a unified policy that allows us to act with a unified vision, even if our opinions vary from time to time. The Arab region is experiencing very sharp differences as well as confessional and sectarian conflicts that are close to igniting civil wars in many Arab countries, in addition to the growing influence of Iran and its appearance as a regional power that “defies” the international community. Amid these atmospheres and reality, the need arises for the Arab leaders to move in order to achieve inter-Arab reconciliation and clear the atmosphere for joint action and address the controversial issues, at the forefront of which is how to diplomatically brandish the Arab peace initiative and activate it internationally, in addition to rejecting the regional and foreign interference in the internal Arab issues. There is a pressing need for the Lebanese, Palestinians, Iraqis, Yemenis, Somalis, and Sudanese to boost their national consensus and cling on to calm so as to reinforce their national unity and pave the way for all the attempts to enhance internal stability in order to foil the threats, rather than fighting and fiddling with the security of the countries and people, especially since some sides feed on these problems and plant mines. Therefore, the “troubled” Arab countries should solve the conflicts by avoiding violence and giving precedence to the interests of their countries first and foremost, aside from any factional interests, by referring to the law and constitutional institutions. In 72 hours, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz brought up major issues in four Arab capitals, and insisted on continuing his initiative until he achieves comprehensive Arab reconciliation and cools off the fire among the brothers for the sake of the countries' and peoples' security. This requires from the rest to shoulder the responsibility and avoid political narcissism and embark on brotherly communication in order to reinforce the solidarity and the joint action to establish more serious inter-Arab relations and shun conflicts that are ignited by the lords of wars and “false” slogans.
