There is a saying in English that goes “Everything you know is wrong”. Basically, this phrase mocks false or misleading information that the Western camp and the Soviet bloc exchanged during the Cold War years. In fact, I believe that there is a book to that effect that rebuts the disinformation regarding the pharmaceutical industry, money laundering and the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, and perhaps even the terrorist attacks of 11/9/2001 and other incidents. I would like to tell the reader here that everything he knows about the ‘bogeyman' that has become the other name of Iran is wrong. This is because Iran, and prior to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's presidency and long after him, has had and will continue to have the known Persian ambitions in the Gulf and the region, and even beyond. In truth, the Emirati islands were occupied during the Shah's days, and even if a dissident in Iran is to become president, these islands will remain under occupation because liberating them cannot be done by allying with the United States, or by ignoring the real threat posed by Israel. - Under the administration of George W. Bush, the United States and Israel collaborated to scare the Arabs from Iran and its alleged military nuclear program, to the extent that they were called upon to forget Israel and its real and present danger against them. - Some Arabs fell astoundingly in this trap, and are now telling us day and night about the danger of an Iranian weapon that does not exist. This diverts attention away from a real threat that Iran poses through its Persian ambitions in the region, and its attempts to export the Shiite revolution to countries that have Sunni majorities, and also to establish spy and sabotage networks there that are activated when needed. - The above means that I am denying the charge against Iran of pursuing a [military] nuclear program, while confirming that it has ambitions. The reason without any false modesty on my part, is that I have nothing for or against Iran, and that I am only seeking the truth as my only allegiance is Arab and humanistic, and not religious, chauvinistic, nationalistic, or even a psychotic one. - Just like a broken clock indicates the time correctly twice every 24 hours, the fact that Ahmadinejad is politically ‘broken' does not prevent him from saying the truth sometimes. At the United Nations, he said that the United States is the only country that has ever used nuclear weapons against other nations, and that it is still threatening to use them against other countries such as Iran and North Korea, in reference to the recent US nuclear policy review. - Ahmadinejad told a half-truth with respect to another issue which is the embargo, when he said that his country has been enduring the embargo for 31 years and that any further boycotts could backfire on American interests in the region while not harming his country. Iran was subjected to three rounds of sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council, and may face a fourth round that the United States pledges (or threatens to make it) will be ‘crippling'. Ahmadinejad is only right in his conclusion that Iran will endure these sanctions, in the sense that the government will indeed endure them; however, he is wrong in what he said after that, because the Iranian people will suffer in their livelihoods and health, and will face conditions similar to those that faced the people of Iraq in the nineties, and which led to the death of tens of thousands of children (some estimates go as far as saying hundreds of thousands). - The Iranian opposition wants to seize power. However, it is not very far from the policy of the current government in what pertains to the nuclear issue, and it is enough to recall here that all the Iranian presidents since the Islamic revolution in 1979 had both moderates and hardliners among them – according to the Western classification – and yet, they all supported the continuation of the nuclear program. - Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei exposed the forgery of the Niger documents which claimed that Iraq under Saddam Hussein procured uranium from Niger. This gives ElBaradei enough credibility for us to believe him when he says that Iran is pursuing a nuclear program that may or may not be a military program, and that what Iran is seeking is to acquire the ‘know-how' necessary to build a nuclear bomb if needed. At present, the Japanese Yukiya Amano, the head of the IAEA, is voicing a firmer position on Iran as he demands it to exhibit more transparency regarding its nuclear program. However, he never declared conclusively that there is a military nuclear program in place in Iran. I want to say here that people, and countries, cannot be held accountable for their intentions, which here are themselves uncertain, but only for their actions. Hence, emphasis should be placed instead on Israel, the fascistic occupation country whose government is led by war criminals and which possesses a proven nuclear arsenal. - If the reader decides to get over his Sunni or Shiite allegiance, or any other allegiance, and verify the accuracy of the above, I hope that he will condemn along with me any Arab official, researcher or journalist who denies what Israel already has, while fearing what Iran does not. Arabs such as these individuals resemble the characters from the novel The Wizard of Oz: they are either cowardly lions or scarecrows without a brain, and are like ‘tin men' without hearts, like the one who accompanied Dorothy to meet the Wizard of Oz.
