Two Officials have said that the convening the 6th GCC Conference of the municipal works, organized recently by the Saudi Ministry of Municipalities and Rural Affairs in Riyadh, had focused on continual Inter-GCC municipal works and facilitation of comprehensive coherence among the Cooperation Council for The Arab States of the Gulf (GCC). Deputy of the Ministry for urban planning Dr. Abdul-Rahman Bin Hassan Al Al-Sheikh said the continual Municipal Inter-State Council works are part of the inter-dependence between the GCC countries in the formulation of policies and plans for the municipal action. In a press statement, he highlighted the importance of experiences among participants, especially in the field of urban planning and urban observatories and informal settlements to discuss the pros and cons to gain access for integration and achievement of greater benefits. He ruled out the presence in the Gulf of obstacles in municipal works and said: 'Every member state has undertaken suitable plans and there is complete coordination and the use of expertise.' 'Moreover, there are also mutual visits and (beneficial) workshops,' he said. For his part, the Deputy of the Ministry of Transport for Roads Affairs, Abdullah bin Abdul- Rahman Al-Moqbil lauded the high attendance of the participants in the conference and affirmed that it confirms the coherence of all GCC member countries. In a statement, he said there is also a proposal to convene a similar conference to address the task of research works and studies with the participation of delegations and experts from the GCC and other countries to launch several scientific papers and experiences in municipal and urban development, noting that these meetings will enrich the debate.He noted the importance of an upcoming exhibition, which will display the latest technology and modern charts of the Gulf cities in particular and the Arab cities in general.
