The 5th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) commerce ministers' meeting to be held in Islamabad has been postponed because of the October 8 earthquake in Pakistan, an official statement said. "Due to the destruction caused by the recent earthquake in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the government of Pakistan has postponed the ministerial meeting and meetings preceding it, including the 11th Committee of Export meeting on SAFTA from October 18 to 22," the statement said. The new dates for the meeting will be announced in consultation with member countries and the SAARC General Secretariat. However, the statement said that the Pakistan government was committed to attending the 13th SAARC Summit from November 12 to 13 in Dhaka.
