The President-General of Meteorology and Environment Presidency Dr. Abdulaziz bin Omar Al-Jasser stressed the importance of the commitment of maritime navigation by environmental standards to achieve a better result as it is one of the most important engines of the world economy and accounts for 90% of the volume of world trade. In his speech at the conclusion of the training workshop on the national environmental standards, he said that the maritime transport constitutes a large segment of the global economy with its transport companies and fleets, calling for the organization of this sector at the lowest possible environmental impacts. For his part, Secretary General of the Regional Commission for the Conservation of the Environment of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden Dr. Ziad Abu Ghararah called for the expedition of the countries in the region to adopt the memorandum of Understanding of regional collaboration in port state control on the ships prepared by the Commission and signed so far by four countries in the region.
