JEDDAH: The Bride of the Red Sea will witness its first Art for Humanity auction of paintings, which will help orphans of unknown parentage. The new exhibition focuses on connecting charitable and humanitarian work in the Kingdom and the proceeds will go to Al-Wedad Charity Society, the first professional association focusing on the care of orphans of unknown parentage. The two-day auction will take place in Jeddah Weston Hotel on Sunday and Monday, with a number of Saudi artists in attendance, said Rania Al-Harith, head of the event's Organizing Committee. “The exhibition, which will be held for the first time, is for all members of society and the goal is to achieve a partnership between art and humanity,” she said. The exhibition includes 500 paintings by a diverse collection of 50 young Saudi artists who are helping improve the art-and-charity connection in the Kingdom. “We will have paintings from several schools of art, which will add variety and satisfy all the artistic tastes,” Al-Harith said. Al-Wedad Charity Society seeks to achieve leadership in addressing issues related to children of unknown parentage by providing intensive care for them, she added.
