RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has issued a decision approving the Founding Law for the transformation of the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital with the renaming of the hospital to King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital and Research Center. As per the law, the hospital will operate as an independent non-profit organization under the umbrella of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC). On this occasion, Minister of State, Member of the Cabinet and CEO of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) Eng. Ibrahim Al-Sultan expressed thanks and gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of RCRC Mohammed bin Salman for approving the founding law. The move comes within the framework of the Saudi Vision 2030 programs entailing supporting and enhancing the role of the non-profit health sector in the Kingdom, to boost its efficiency and quality of services, thus boosting its role and position as a leading global institution in the field of eye health, scientific research, and training. Al-Sultan said: "King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital and Research Center is a pioneer in the field of ophthalmology and optics, with its influence extending beyond the Kingdom onto a global scale. The hospital is present and a part of global organizations, and its health, training, educational, and research services benefit the health of the citizens, its contribution to the eyesight preservation, and strengthen and support the health sector system in the Kingdom." He said that the transformation of the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, together with the transformation of King Saud University and King Faisal Specialist Hospital, reflects the focus on improving the health services in the Kingdom, and expanding cooperation among institutions, as a major enabler of achieving the Kingdom's ambitious goals. The approval of the founding law for the King Khaled Eye Specialist and Research Center is testimony to the leadership's vision of advancing the health sector, in general, with focus on research in the field of eye care, in particular. In addition to stimulating the non-profit work in the city of Riyadh, and ensuring the completion of the health and community services system, the inclusion of the hospital under the umbrella of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City further consolidates the position of Riyadh as a global medical destination, enhancing the value of the assets under its ownership, and keeping pace with successful global standards.
