Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is also the deputy supreme commander of the armed forces in the United Arab Emirates, held talks on the phone with Iraqi President Barham Salih on Monday, the UAE's official news agency WAM reported. The reviewed the prospects of promoting bilateral relations and accelerating cooperation across all fronts. The two leaders discussed a number of issues of common regional and international concern. They touched on the latest developments of the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the efforts made by the two countries to address the fallout of the pandemic on the humanitarian, economic and medical levels as well as ways to enhance post-corona cooperation. Sheikh Mohamed and the Iraqi president also underlined the importance of underpinning the pillars of peace, stability and development for all the peoples of the Middle East region who are suffering unrests weighing on their financial and human resources. Sheikh Mohamed reiterated the UAE's permanent support for Iraq to preserve its security and stability and to overcome the besetting challenges. Salih thanked Sheikh Mohamed for the UAE's support for the people of Iraq under all circumstances to restore its stability and solidify the role played by state departments at all levels. In unrelated development, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also received a telephone call from Liberia's President George Weah. During the conversation, the two leaders discussed ways of strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation to serve the mutual interests of the two friendly countries in several fields. Sheikh Mohamed and President Weah discussed the latest regional and global developments and issues of common concern and exchanged views on them. The two sides also reviewed the latest situation regarding COVID-19 pandemic and the global efforts to contain the impact of the virus. President Weah thanked the UAE for its positive role in the development of Liberia and the rest of Africa. Sheikh Mohamed underlined the UAE's keenness to strengthen ties with the African countries, including Liberia for the common good of their peoples. — Agencies
