Britain's Prince Harry was stranded in the Arctic Thursday after cracks formed on a temporary ice runway, delaying his return home from a charity expedition with wounded soldiers, dpa quoted St James' Palace as saying. The 26-year-old prince, who had been due to return Thursday, would spend an extra day trekking while waiting for the cracks to be fixed. The third in line to the throne had been expected to resume his military training in Britain, ahead of performing the role of best man at the wedding of his older brother, Prince William, to Kate Middleton on April 29. He joined the trek from a base in northern Norway 10 days ago, but the start of the 320-kilometre walk was delayed by poor weather. Harry only took part in the initial stage of the four-week expedition of the Walking Wounded charity, of which he is a patron. 'We will continue to monitor the situation and hope to have Prince Harry back on dry land within the next 48 hours,' said expedition spokesman Alex Rayner. However, due to the 'unpredictable nature of conditions in the Arctic' the situation could change, he added.
